Casey Colburn represents clients in matters involving sustainable real estate development, environmental clean-up, green building, entitlements and land use. His real estate experience is diverse — from facilitating stewardship and conservation of family and productive lands to sustainable development in ecologically sensitive areas and the reutilization and redevelopment of highly impacted and constrained urban real estate.
Casey Is A USGBC LEED Accredited Professional
Casey is one of a select number Florida attorneys to become a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional. As a LEED Professional, Casey has demonstrated his understanding and commitment to green building practices and principles.
Casey’s Practice As A Land Use Lawyer
Casey represents clients in matters involving local government, land use and entitlement matters, green building and regulation, environmental permitting and due diligence. Casey is involved in initiating and managing environmental and regulatory aspects of transactions, legislation and disputes. Casey also handles transactions for Kirk-Pinkerton's real estate, government, and development clients.
In addition to his transaction-oriented real estate and development practice, Casey has been involved with "brownfields" and the acquisition and redevelopment of environmentally-challenged properties. The brownfields concept requires novel approaches to regulation, finance and construction. Casey's brownfields experience includes retail and shopping center projects throughout the United States and Puerto Rico .

Casey moved his family to Sarasota years ago because of its home-town character and optimistic future. As a founding director of the Young Professionals Group and IMPACT, Casey demonstrates his commitment to the Sarasota community as a director and volunteer in numerous civic and charitable causes, including:

Casey’s Education
Casey received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Arizona in 1991. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh Law School in 1994.
