Thomas
D. Shults
Litigation
Mr. Shults represents
clients in a broad area of matters including complex business and
commercial disputes, construction project litigation, probate and trust
suits and election law.
Mr. Shults is a Board Certified in Civil Trial Lawyer. Board
Certification is the highest level of evaluation by the Florida Bar of
competency and experience within an area of law. Less than
1.2% of all Florida lawyers are Board Certified in Civil
Trial.
Mr. Shults also holds the highest peer rating possible (AV) from an
independent attorney rating agency, Martindale Hubbell. He
presently
serves on the Florida Rules of Evidence Committee of the Florida Bar
and is a recipient of the distinguished Community Service Award of the
Sarasota County Bar Association. He is an Army veteran and
was
admitted to the Bar in 1983
addition to his involvement in
professional organizations, Mr. Shults has served on the Board of
Directors of the non-profit Mental Health Community Centers and
assisted MHCC in expanding the delivery of its services to adults who
suffer from debilitating mental illnesses. In 2009, the
Sarasota Bar
Association awarded him the Distinguished Community Service award for
his work with MHCC.
Mr. Shults grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida.
After graduating from Florida State University with a degree in
psychology and completing his service in the U.S. Army, he attended the
Washburn University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor
cum laude in 1982.
