Tom Shults represents clients in a range of matters including complex business and commercial disputes, probate and trust suits, and election and Sunshine law litigation.
Mr. Shults is a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer. Board Certification is the highest level of evaluation by the Florida Bar of competency and experience within a specific area of law. Less than 2% of all Florida lawyers are Board Certified in Civil Trial. Mr. Shults also holds the highest peer rating possible (AV) from the independent attorney rating agency, Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Shults is the past chairman of the Code & Rules of Evidence Committee of The Florida Bar and also served on the Professional Ethics Committee of The Florida Bar.
In 2013 he was nominated for the position of circuit court judge by the 12th Circuit Judicial Nominating Committee.
He is a recipient of the Distinguished Community Service Award of the Sarasota County Bar Association for his work with Mental Health Community Centers.
In 2012 Mr. Shults was appointed to a 4 year term on the Sarasota County Historical Commission.
Mr. Shults is an Army veteran and was admitted to the Bar in 1983.
